Former Egypt coach Hossam El Badry has described Hossam Hassan as the best Egyptian coach of all time, insisting that the Pharaohs’ 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign proved the importance of trusting local managers.

Hassan guided Egypt to the knockout stage of the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico before the team’s dramatic 3-2 defeat to Argentina in the round of 16.

Speaking during radio comments on “On Sport” radio on Wednesday, El Badry praised Hassan’s impact and said his achievements with the national team should change the perception of Egyptian coaches among football officials.

“Hossam Hassan proved that the national coach is the best at all times. I hope this becomes established in the minds of officials,” El Badry said.

The Al Ahly Tripoli coach went further by highlighting Hassan’s qualities and declaring that the former Egypt captain has shown why he deserves recognition as the greatest Egyptian coach.

“Hossam Hassan is the best Egypt coach of all time. He has the ability, passion and determination, and he is capable of succeeding anywhere,” El Badry added.

El Badry, who previously managed both the Egyptian national team and Al Ahly, believes Hassan’s experience as a former international star has helped him connect with the players and build a competitive national side.

He called on Egyptian football authorities and supporters to continue backing Hassan, especially after the team’s impressive World Cup showing.

“The coming period requires support for the national team and avoiding technical criticism at this stage,” he explained.

The veteran coach said the Pharaohs deserved praise for their performance at the tournament, admitting that expectations among Egyptian supporters had risen after watching the team compete strongly against some of the world’s best nations.

“The Egyptian national team deserves praise for what it presented in the 2026 World Cup. The fans’ ambitions reached a high level, and I know the extent of the sadness among Egyptians,” El Badry said.

Egypt exited the tournament after a thrilling 3-2 defeat to Argentina at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, in the round of 16, following a campaign that earned praise for the team’s fighting spirit and competitive performances.
