Hossam Abdelmaguid set to join Ludogorets training within two days

Hossam Abdelmaguid is expected to arrive in Bulgaria within the next two days and join Ludogorets’ first-team training immediately, according to his agent Islam Abdelmaguid.

The Egypt defender has recently completed a move to the Bulgarian club on a contract running until the summer of 2029, beginning a new chapter after leaving Zamalek.

Speaking to FilGoal.com, Islam Abdelmaguid said: “Hossam Abdelmaguid will arrive in Bulgaria within a day or two, and the club is currently finalising the details of his travel.”

He added: “The player will join the team’s training immediately after arriving in Bulgaria to begin his new journey with his club.”

The move brings an end to Abdelmaguid’s time with Zamalek, where he made 171 appearances, scored 15 goals and provided one assist.

During his spell with the Cairo club, he won three Egyptian Premier League titles, two Egypt Cup trophies, one CAF Super Cup and one CAF Confederation Cup.

Abdelmaguid used social media to thank Zamalek’s supporters following his departure, saying he remained proud of his time with the club and the relationship he built with its fans.

“Thank you to all Zamalek fans,” he wrote on his official Instagram account.

“From the first day I wore Zamalek’s shirt, you were the true support in every moment and during every difficult time.”

He continued: “Today, as I begin a new step in my career, all I ask from you is your support and prayers, just as you have always stood by me.”

The defender added: “I will always be proud that I was one of the sons of Zamalek Club, and your memories and support will remain with me wherever I go.”

He concluded: “Thank you for all the love. May God grant us all success in what lies ahead.”

Ludogorets have made a strong start to their domestic league campaign, winning their opening two matches. They began with a 1-0 victory over Lokomotiv Plovdiv before beating Dunav Ruse 2-0.

However, the Bulgarian side will not take part in European competition for the first time after being eliminated in the qualifying round for the UEFA Conference League.

Abdelmaguid previously explained why he chose Ludogorets over offers from clubs in the Gulf region. While those proposals were financially stronger, he said the Bulgarian club was the most serious option and offered a better sporting opportunity.

“I preferred Ludogorets to the Gulf offers because it was the best and most serious option, even though the Gulf offers were financially stronger,” he said.

“My aim is to join a league that is more widely recognised, contribute to the success of my country, honour Zamalek, the club of my childhood, and pave the way for young Zamalek players to become professionals in Europe.”

His arrival is expected to give Ludogorets another defensive option as the club continues its domestic campaign, while Abdelmaguid begins his first experience outside Egypt.
