Hossam Abdel Meguid has sent Zamalek a formal warning demanding payment of 800,000 Egyptian pounds in outstanding dues, according to a source close to the player.
The Bulgaria-based source told FilGoal.com that Abdel Meguid had warned the club he would take the matter to FIFA if the money was not paid.
“ The player sent a warning to Zamalek to receive his outstanding dues, estimated at 800,000 Egyptian pounds, before submitting a complaint to FIFA,” the source said.
Abdel Meguid moved to Ludogorets at the beginning of the current season after leaving Zamalek.
The source added that the player had been promised his dues would be paid alongside those owed to the rest of the squad, but said he was surprised when no payment was made to him.
“The player was promised that his dues would be paid with those of the other players at the club, but he was surprised that he did not receive any amount,” the source said.
Abdel Meguid had attempted to contact Zamalek’s management to establish when his outstanding payments would be settled, but received no response before sending the warning to the club.
“Hossam tried to contact the administration to find out what would happen with his dues, but he did not receive any response before sending the warning to the club,” the source said.
The defender was included in the Egypt squad for matches during the current international break.
He has made four appearances for Ludogorets since joining the club.
