Golden Arrows sign experienced goalkeeper Dumisani Msibi after Chippa United exit

Golden Arrows have signed experienced goalkeeper Dumisani Msibi after his departure from Chippa United, securing the former Chippa captain as they continue to strengthen their squad.

The KwaZulu-Natal club confirmed Msibi’s arrival on their official X account, welcoming the 31-year-old to Abafana Bes’thende.

“Sthende Nation, please join us in welcoming new addition, goalkeeper Dumisani Msibi, to the club,” Golden Arrows announced.

Msibi joins Arrows after a period in which he established himself as one of Chippa United’s more dependable performers during a difficult spell for the Gqeberha-based side.

He made 19 appearances across all competitions for Chippa and kept eight clean sheets. The goalkeeper was also given the captain’s armband on several occasions, underlining the responsibility he carried within the team.

His move brings an experienced presence to the Golden Arrows squad, with the club moving quickly to complete the signing after his departure from Chippa United.

Msibi had previously made an impression at Durban City, where he played an important part in the club’s promotion to the topflight. That experience, together with his record at Chippa, will give Arrows encouragement as they add him to their goalkeeping options.

The switch to KwaZulu-Natal follows changes to the goalkeeping situation at Chippa. Nigerian international Stanley Nwabali returned to the Eastern Cape club during pre-season after initially parting ways with the side halfway through the 2025/26 campaign.

Nwabali’s return saw him reclaim the number one position at Chippa United. With competition for the starting role increasing, Msibi has chosen to begin a new chapter with Golden Arrows.

The 31-year-old’s arrival gives Arrows a goalkeeper who has already handled regular first-team football, leadership duties and the demands of a promotion campaign. His clean-sheet record at Chippa also adds to the credentials he takes into his new role.

Golden Arrows’ announcement confirms the latest move in Msibi’s career, with the goalkeeper now set to continue his career in KwaZulu-Natal after leaving the Gqeberha-based club.
