Golden Arrows and Sundowns name starting XIs for Betway Premiership rematch

Pitso Dladla and Miguel Cardoso have announced their starting line-ups for Lamontville Golden Arrows’ Betway Premiership meeting with Mamelodi Sundowns at King Zwelithini Stadium this afternoon.

The match comes seven days after Sundowns eliminated Arrows from the MTN8 on the away-goal rule. That tie ended in a 3-2 home defeat for Arrows, who suffered their first loss of the season and conceded for the first time in the new campaign.

Dladla’s side will be seeking an immediate response against the same opposition, with their home record offering encouragement. Arrows have not lost a league match at home since December 2025 and have made a strong defensive start to the current Betway Premiership campaign.

They have played four league matches without conceding, although they have scored only once. Their latest meeting with Sundowns provides an opportunity to turn that defensive solidity into a positive result.

Sundowns arrive in Durban after maintaining their strong form in midweek. The African champions defeated Milford FC 2-0 at home and will now look to continue their challenge at the top of the league.

Cardoso’s team are second in the Betway Premiership with 13 points, level with Orlando Pirates. A victory would move Sundowns above the Buccaneers. They are also the division’s highest-scoring side, having scored 13 goals in five league matches.

Sundowns lost only twice in the league last season, with one of those defeats coming against Arrows at King Zwelithini Stadium. However, Sundowns’ last away league win against Arrows came in October 2021.

Arrows start with Mbanjwa in goal, while Shezi, Agnikoi, Manstshiyane and Maluleke form the defensive unit. Dlamini, Zwane and Maxwele are included in midfield, with Van Neel, Gasa and Dion completing the starting XI.

Lamontville Golden Arrows’ substitutes are Msibi, Madonsela, Mafuleka, Radzhadzhi, Khumalo, van Rooi, Khuamlo, Sithole and Moli.

Mamelodi Sundowns name Williams as their goalkeeper. Morena, Kekana, Ndamane and Basdien are selected in defence, with Mokoena, Allende and Ndlovu in midfield. Mailula, Matthews and Leon lead the attack.

Sundowns have Goss, Mdunyelwa, Khoza, Modiba, Mkhulise, Zwane, B. Mokoena, van Wyk and Rayners among their substitutes.

The fixture gives Arrows the chance to avenge last week’s MTN8 exit, while Sundowns can strengthen their position near the top of the Betway Premiership and move ahead of Orlando Pirates with another victory.
