Ghana will wrap up their preparations for the 2026 World Cup with a behind-closed-doors friendly against Honduras on Tuesday, June 9, as the Black Stars complete their final adjustments ahead of the tournament.

The fixture replaces the previously scheduled match against Jamaica on June 10, which was ultimately not finalised.

The change ensures Ghana still have a final opportunity to test their squad in a competitive environment before travelling to Canada for the World Cup.

The match against Honduras will take place without spectators, allowing the coaching staff to focus fully on tactical organisation, player fitness, and final selection decisions without external distractions.

It will also serve as the last opportunity for head coach Carlos Queiroz to assess his side following their 1-1 draw with Wales at Cardiff City Stadium.

That result offered an early indication of the team’s readiness, with both positives and areas requiring refinement ahead of the global tournament.

Following the friendly, the Black Stars will travel to Toronto to begin their World Cup campaign at the 23rd edition of the competition.

Ghana will be appearing at their fifth World Cup and have been placed in Group L, which also includes Panama, England and Croatia.

The group has been widely described as one of the most challenging in the tournament due to the calibre and experience of the opposition.

The Black Stars will begin their campaign on June 17 against Panama, a fixture seen as important for setting the tone of their group stage.

They will then face England on June 23 in a high-profile encounter that will test their defensive organisation and discipline.

Their final group match comes on June 27 against Croatia, a side with a strong tournament pedigree and experience in reaching the latter stages of major international competitions.

For Ghana, the Honduras friendly represents the final stage of preparation before the pressure of World Cup football begins in earnest.

With limited time remaining before their opening match, the coaching staff are expected to use the fixture to finalise tactical details and assess player combinations.

Although played behind closed doors, the match is expected to play a significant role in shaping the squad’s readiness, as the Black Stars aim to build momentum heading into a demanding group stage schedule.

As the countdown continues, attention now turns to whether Ghana can translate their preparations into consistent performances when the tournament begins.
