GERMANY: WITHOUT MARIO GOMEZ, THE 30 PRESELECTED FOR THE 2014 WORLD CUP

Joachim Löw, the head coach of the German national team, has announced a preliminary squad of 30 players for their first preparation camp ahead of the upcoming World Cup. The squad consists mainly of players from Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, with a few young talents included. Sami Khedira, who has been sidelined with injuries for much of the season, has made the squad despite his lack of playing time for Real Madrid.

However, there is no place for Mario Gomez in the squad. The Fiorentina striker has struggled with injuries this season and has had limited playing time, leading to his omission from the squad. Löw explained, “I wanted Mario Gomez to be fit, but he has only played around 280 minutes since September. He is not ready.”

Germany’s preparation will include a friendly match against Poland on May 13, although players from Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will not be involved in this fixture.

Defenders: Boateng, Durm, Großkreutz, Höwedes, Hummels, Jansen, Lahm, Mertesacker, Mustafi, Schmelzer.
