Pierre Alain Mounguengui has assumed the role of president of the Gabonese Football Federation (Fégafoot) following his election on March 30, ending months of crisis within the organization. He officially began his duties at Fégafoot’s headquarters after a handover ceremony with Ndoumbou Likoumi, who previously held the position. Mounguengui had previously led the Normalization Committee established by FIFA before the election.
As the new president, Mounguengui faces the immediate task of selecting a coach for the Gabon national team, known as the Panthers, in preparation for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) in 2015.
