Frank Anguissa: Besiktas linked with move for Cameroon and Napoli midfielder

Cameroon central midfielder Frank Anguissa is being linked with a summer move from Napoli to Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas, with the 30-year-olds future in Serie A increasingly uncertain.

Transfermarkts latest data, scraped on 5 July 2026, lists a rumoured switch from Napoli to Besiktas with the probability still marked as ?, underlining that talks remain at the speculation stage rather than an advanced negotiation. No contract expiry date is recorded for Anguissa in Naples, raising the prospect that he could either move for a reduced fee compared with his peak years or run down his deal and later become a free agent.

Anguissa, valued at 15.00m, has seen his market value fall steadily from a high of 40m in March 2023 to its current level published on 29 May 2026, reflecting both his age and Napolis fluctuating form since their Scudetto-winning campaign. Even so, he remains one of the more experienced midfielders available in that price bracket for clubs outside Europes financial elite.

Born in Yaounde on 16 November 1995 and standing at 1.84m, the right-footed midfielder has built a career across several major European leagues. After leaving Coton Sport in Cameroon for Stade Reims B in 2014, he progressed through Olympique de Marseilles B and senior sides before a move to Fulham in August 2018, where his value climbed to 25m. Loan spells at Villarreal and then Napoli followed, with the Italian club making the move permanent in July 2022.

The speculation around Besiktas comes as Anguissa heads into the later phase of a career that has already taken in Ligue 1, La Liga, the Premier League and Serie A. A switch to Istanbul, if it materialises, would add the Turkish Super Lig to that list and offer him the chance to re-establish his reputation as a high-impact midfielder on another major stage.
