Franco-Senegalese defender Mamadou Sarr is expected to spend the 2025/26 football campaign on loan at French Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg.
The 19-year-old is joining Strasbourg on a season-long loan from Chelsea with a purchase option.
Sarr had a breakout campaign with Strasbourg last season, impressing during a first professional spell in Ligue 1. His progress earned him a €20m transfer to Chelsea in June and has since being part of the team.
The defender made just an appearance at the just ended FIFA Club World Cup tournament, where the Blues emerged as the champions, defeating Paris Saint Germain.
Despite integrating briefly into the Blues’ senior setup, the decision has been made to send the defender back to Strasbourg to continue his development with regular playing time.
Sarr is expected to arrive in Strasbourg later this week, where he will join a central defensive group featuring Ismaël Doukouré, who has attracted interest this summer as well as Soumaïla Coulibaly, Abakar Sylla, and Andrew Omobamidele.
The Lyon academy graduate is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2033 and is expected to return to his parent club at the end of his loan spell.
