Former Senegal forward Yoro Lamine passes away
Former Senegal international Yoro Lamine Ly has been confirmed dead at the Idrissa Pouye hospital, following a short illness.
The forward, who was trained and discovered in Niarry Tally in his native country died on Sunday at age 37.
Yoro Lamine had the honor of wearing the jersey of the local national team in 2010, featuring against Mexico in an international friendly, a match that remained his only appearance for Senegal.
He began his professional career in Senegal before departing for greener pastures. His first European adventure was in Armenia, where he left a real mark on Shirak Gyumri FC.
He spent several solid and consistent seasons at Shirak Gyumri FC and made a good account of himself.
Yoro Lamine also played for clubs in Israel (Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv), Portugal (Boavista), Latvia (BFC Daugavpils), and Finland (Ilves Tampere), demonstrating a career rich in travel and experience.
Known for his seriousness, humility, and determination, the former center-forward embodied professionalism both on and off the field. His game intelligence, discipline, and team spirit made him a valuable asset, appreciated by his coaches and teammates alike.
