Benin secure commitment from Swedish-born attacker Zeidane Inoussa
Benin have received a significant boost ahead of future international competitions after Zeidane Inoussa reportedly agreed to represent the Cheetahs at senior level.
According to information gathered by Jude Adda, the attacking player has decided to commit his international future to Benin after several months of discussions and uncertainty surrounding his national team choice.
Inoussa had been eligible to represent more than one country but has now given his approval to join the Benin national side, where he is expected to strengthen the team’s attacking options ahead of upcoming competitions, including the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Born in Stockholm in 2002, the forward developed through the Swedish football system and represented Sweden at youth level before continuing his career abroad.
Despite his relatively young age, Inoussa has already built considerable experience across several European leagues. After his football education in Sweden, he moved to France where he played for Stade Malherbe Caen before later joining the reserve side of Valencia CF in Spain.
It was after returning to Sweden, however, that his career took a major step forward.
Playing for BK Häcken, the forward produced an impressive run of performances that quickly attracted wider attention across Europe.
During his time with the Swedish side, Inoussa scored 11 goals and registered seven assists in 36 matches, numbers that helped raise his profile significantly.
His strong form eventually earned him a move to Swansea City last summer in a deal reportedly worth around €6 million.
The winger’s progress was interrupted earlier this year after he suffered an injury against Birmingham City in January, bringing his season to a premature end.
Despite that setback, Inoussa is now preparing for the next stage of his international career with Benin, where expectations will be high following his decision to join the national team setup.
His arrival offers the Cheetahs additional pace and attacking quality as the team looks ahead to important matches in the coming years, particularly in their efforts to qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
