FOOTBALL BURKINA FASO: FRIENDLY MATCH AGAINST UKRAINE CANCELED
The Burkinabe Football Federation (FBF) has announced the cancellation of their upcoming friendly match against Ukraine, originally scheduled for May 23. Sita Sangaré, president of the FBF, explained that the decision was not due to any unwillingness to play but was a result of the match’s scheduling and the federation’s commitment to African football.
“We declined the match against Ukraine not because we didn’t want to but because the arrangement was for the match to be played on the 23rd in Kiev. It was important for us to have an African partner, a quality partner in African football,” Sangaré stated.
The cancellation is related to a previously scheduled friendly match against Senegal on May 21 in Ouagadougou. Sangaré elaborated, “We are delighted to have obtained this friendly match against Senegal, which is striving to reclaim its position in African football. Playing on the 21st in Ouagadougou and returning to play against Ukraine on the 23rd would be very challenging. For this reason, we were forced to decline Ukraine’s invitation for this friendly match. It should be noted that Ukraine was taking care of all arrangements.”
