Five PSL free agents to watch as transfer deadline approaches

The departure of Bafana Bafana midfielder Elias Mokwana from Esperance has added to the list of experienced players currently available without a club, with the transfer window deadline approaching.

KickOff has identified five leading free agents who most recently played for Betway Premiership clubs.

Richard Ofori

Richard Ofori remains without a club after AmaZulu opted not to renew his contract at the end of the 2025/26 season.

The Ghanaian goalkeeper previously faced a similar situation when Orlando Pirates released him at the end of the 2023/24 campaign. His career was subsequently revived by a move to AmaZulu.

The 32-year-old has attracted interest from clubs in Albania and Ethiopia, according to previous reports, although neither opportunity has resulted in a transfer.

Rivaldo Coetzee

Rivaldo Coetzee is another player who has struggled to secure a permanent club after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns.

His contract with Sundowns was not extended at the end of the 2024/25 season, leaving him without a team for 10 months. Sekhukhune United then offered the defender a short-term deal in April this year.

That agreement was not renewed before the start of the current campaign. Coetzee, known as ‘The System’, is still 29 years of age.

Happy Mashiane

Happy Mashiane’s spell away from Kaizer Chiefs was expected to provide an opportunity to revive his career.

The left wing-back joined Siwelele on loan for the 2025/26 season, but he made only one appearance for Masokolara while Lehlohonolo Seema was head coach.

Kaizer Chiefs later parted ways with the 28-year-old, who had been promoted to the first team from the club’s reserves in January 2019.

Andy Boyeli

Sekhukhune United appeared to have secured a significant signing when they brought in Democratic Republic of Congo striker Andy Boyeli, who had also been linked with Kaizer Chiefs.

Boyeli spent one season with Babina Noko before moving to Young Africans on loan last season.

The forward became involved in controversy surrounding his failure to return, and Sekhukhune eventually ended their association with the former Power Dynamos striker.

Samir Nurkovic

Samir Nurkovic’s time at Siwelele ended after he made only four appearances during the 2025/26 season.

The Bloemfontein-based club decided not to renew the contract of the former Kaizer Chiefs striker, leaving the Serbian forward searching for a new team.

Nurkovic’s agent, Dejan Simac, subsequently told KickOff that the 34-year-old wants to continue his career in the Betway Premiership.
