Mohamed Salah eyes Europa League milestone

Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah is targeting another personal milestone when Trabzonspor take on German side Freiburg in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.

The Turkish outfit will welcome Freiburg to Papara Park for their third-round fixture of the 2026/27 Europa League campaign, with kick-off scheduled for 7:45 pm Cairo time and 8:45 pm Mecca time.

Salah will be hoping to rediscover his scoring touch after failing to find the back of the net in Trabzonspor’s last two matches, a situation that has attracted attention among supporters.

The Egyptian international is targeting three goals in his opening three European Conference League appearances for the club, having already made a promising start to his continental campaign.

The former Liverpool forward has scored against KuPS in a 4-2 victory before finding the net again in a 2-0 triumph over Scottish side Hearts.

His performances have further underlined his importance to Trabzonspor, with the Egyptian captain already registering 10 goals in 14 appearances across all competitions.

Salah will now be eager to extend that impressive scoring record against Freiburg and help Trabzonspor strengthen their position in the Europa League.

Trabzonspor head into the encounter on the back of a confidence-boosting 2-0 victory over Gaziantep in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday, and will be hoping to carry that momentum into their European assignment.

A goal against Freiburg would not only end Salah’s recent scoring drought but also provide another opportunity for the Egyptian star to enhance his growing influence at the Turkish club.
