Chelsea’s midfield options have received a timely boost ahead of a pivotal Premier League showdown, with manager Liam Rosenior confirming that Enzo Fernandez is back in full training and available for selection against Manchester United this weekend.

The Argentine World Cup winner had been sidelined from recent matchday squads following disciplinary issues, missing both the emphatic FA Cup quarter-final victory over Port Vale and the sobering league defeat to Manchester City.

His absence raised questions about his standing within the squad, particularly given his leadership role in the absence of injured captain Reece James.

However, Rosenior struck a composed and reassuring tone when addressing the midfielder’s situation, suggesting that Fernandez has responded exactly as required behind the scenes.

“Enzo has been with the group and has been training very, very well,” he said. “So, it’s business as usual in terms of selection for the game.

“In terms of his training, his application to training, Enzo has been fantastic as well.”

Fernandez’s return comes at a crucial juncture for Chelsea, who are attempting to steady their push for Champions League qualification.

Currently sixth in the table, they remain within striking distance of Liverpool, but inconsistency—just one win in their last five league outings—has complicated their pursuit of a top-five finish.

Elsewhere, Rosenior provided updates on defensive reinforcements, with Trevoh Chalobah edging closer to a return after a lengthy spell out since the Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain.

“Trevoh trained today but not quite fully; it was a modified training,” Rosenior explained. “We’ll make a decision on him, but he’s very, very close. Reece is a little bit further away.”

Saturday’s meeting with United carries added weight, offering Chelsea a direct opportunity to close the gap on one of the division’s front-runners. Rosenior, though, remains focused on internal standards rather than external pressure.

“You focus on what you can control, which is our performance,” he said. “You make sure the attitude, the energy and the application to the game is right. I expect a good performance ‌on Saturday.”
