Ferland Mendy and David Alaba among players Alonso wants out of Real Madrid
Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has reportedly earmarked Ferland Mendy and David Alaba as part of a group of players he would prefer to offload before the close of the summer transfer window.
According to Marca, the duo feature on a list alongside Brazilian youngsters Endrick and Rodrygo Goes, as Alonso seeks to reshape his squad ahead of the new season.
Alaba, who has Nigerian heritage through his father, and Mendy, whose parents are from Senegal, have both faced uncertain futures at the Bernabéu in recent months.
Alaba’s last two seasons have been plagued by injuries, limiting his influence in defence, while Mendy, despite enjoying a resurgence last term, is not viewed as central to Alonso’s long-term plans.
The report claims Alonso wants Endrick to leave on loan to gain more first-team experience, but the highly rated teenager is reluctant to depart.
Rodrygo, meanwhile, has attracted limited interest, with Tottenham Hotspur the only club to make a concrete offer — one the Brazilian forward is unlikely to accept as he holds out for a more high-profile destination.
For Alaba, Madrid are understood to be open to offers, with the 32-year-old encouraged to explore new opportunities.
Mendy, on the other hand, is reportedly resisting a move, signalling his intent to fight for his place despite the club’s stance.
Alonso’s push to trim the squad comes as Real Madrid look to balance competition for places with their ambitions in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.
