Nantes president Waldemar Kita has indicated that defender Papy Djilobodji is free to leave the club if he wishes. While Kita expressed a desire to keep the player, he also acknowledged that there could be exceptions under specific circumstances.
Speaking to Ouest-France, Kita said, “For the first time this year, the budget is more than respected and positive. It is done in such a way that there is no sale of players, including Djilobodji. No need. No, I don’t want to sell him. Now, if I have a request, if economically it corresponds to what we want, if it is to prevent the player from causing issues or slowing down his progress, I’m not going to lie to you, he will leave. But this will be an exception.”
Djilobodji has two and a half years left on his contract with Nantes. Kita added, “Grandpa still has two and a half years of contract left, so I don’t see the point in extending it now. We won’t hinder a player’s career if he receives genuine and good proposals. But today, that is not the case. And we can’t dismantle the team either. This is why I would only start discussing from 20 million euros.”
