Fadel Gobitaka: Togo-Belgium winger joins Thionville Lusitanos from RFC Liege

Togo-Belgium winger Fadel Gobitaka has joined French side Thionville Lusitanos from RFC Liege. The 28-year-old left winger moves across the border from Belgiums Challenger Pro League to the French Ligue 3 club, signing a deal that runs until 30 June 2027.

Gobitaka, born in Sint-Agatha-Berchem and standing at 1.81m, leaves RFC Liege after a single season, having arrived there on a free transfer from La Louviere in 2025. His switch to Thionville marks the latest step in a career that has taken him through Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.

An experienced operator at second and third-tier level, Gobitaka has amassed more than 170 senior appearances across league and cup competitions. His most extensive spell came in Belgiums 1ste Nationale, where he played 90 matches and scored 14 goals, underlining his familiarity with physically demanding, transitional football. He has also featured in the Challenger Pro League and made brief appearances in the Jupiler Pro League and Europa League qualifying earlier in his career.

Gobitakas track record includes productive spells in the 2de Nationale and Luxembourgs BGL Ligue, as well as youth and reserve football in the Dutch system with Roda JCs U21 side. Moves from Roda JC U21 to Differdange 03, then to La Louviere and RFC Liege, have built a profile of a wide attacker accustomed to adapting to new leagues and playing styles.

With a current market value of 200,000, Gobitaka now commits the next year of his career to Thionville Lusitanos as they prepare for their Ligue 3 campaign.
