With his impressive form, Lukaku’s ultimate goal is to secure Champions League qualification for Everton. He is determined to leave his mark in the club’s history on the banks of the Mersey.
“Making history at a club is one of the reasons why we play football,” Lukaku told the British newspaper Liverpool Echo. “That’s my ambition this season. I’m a competitor, and I want to win every match I play,” added the Red Devil.
Everton had a perfect month of March in the league, with five consecutive victories, positioning them well to secure fourth place and Champions League qualification. “I stated upon my return that I would do everything to help the club qualify for the Champions League and progress in the Cup. Although we didn’t win the Cup, we are in a strong position in the race for fourth place,” Lukaku revealed before discussing his future.
“I’m trying not to dwell too much on my future at the moment,” he explained. “I still have two years left on my contract at one of the biggest clubs in the world, but Everton is a team that has helped me develop, and I want to contribute to their success. There are too many important upcoming fixtures – such as matches against United and City and the World Cup – for me to focus on my future.”
