Ethio Electric eye Ethiopia left-back Firaol Mengistu in Sidama Bunna link

Ethiopian left-back Firaol Mengistu has been linked with a move from Sidama Bunna to fellow Premier League club Ethio Electric.

The reported interest concerns a domestic move for the 27-year-old, who joined Sidama Bunna from Bahirdar Ketema on 1 September 2024. Mengistu has remained with the club since then and is listed as a defender operating on the left side.

Mengistu has made 28 Premier League appearances, scoring one goal and providing four assists. He has also featured four times in the CAF Confederation Cup, playing 325 minutes in the competition.

The potential transfer would see Mengistu leave Sidama Bunna after two seasons with the club. Before joining them, he spent two seasons at Bahirdar Ketema, having moved there from Addis Ababa FC in 2022.

His playing record also includes spells with Hadia Hosaina and Ethiopia Bunna, but the reported link with Ethio Electric centres on his current position in Ethiopia’s top flight.

Mengistu’s current market value is listed at €50,000. No transfer fee or agreement has been reported, and the move remains unconfirmed. He is currently a Sidama Bunna player.
