Legendary Egyptian goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary has praised Morocco star goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, describing him as one of the best in the world.
In a recent interview, El-Hadary revealed that he developed a strong bond with Bono while working closely with him during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
He recalled congratulating Bono after an impressive save in Al-Hilal’s Club World Cup Round of 16 match against Manchester City.
“I made this save before in 2002 against El Hadji Diouf, and Bono succeeded thanks to his determination and fighting spirit. He also has great agility, which is amazing.”
El-Hadary went further, stating that Bono and Egypt’s Mohamed El-Shenawy are the best goalkeepers in Africa.
“Bono and Mohamed El-Shenawy are the best in Africa, and in my opinion, Yassin is one of the three best goalkeepers in the world.”
When asked about comparisons between himself and Bono, El-Hadary expressed pride and affection, saying the Moroccan goalkeeper feels like a younger brother despite his retirement eight years ago.
