Eric Gerets Joins Al Jazira as Head Coach Following Short Stint at Lekhwiya
Just days after his departure from Lekhwiya, Eric Gerets has quickly found a new managerial role. The former Morocco national team coach has signed a two-year contract with Al Jazira, a club based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The 66-year-old Belgian has taken the reins at the Gulf club, following in the footsteps of notable figures such as George Weah and Philip Cocu, who have previously played for Al Jazira. Gerets will replace Italian coach Walter Zenga, who was in charge prior to the Belgian’s appointment.
Gerets’ career, which includes stints with clubs like Marseille, as well as the Moroccan national team, is marked by his vast experience in coaching across various continents. His swift move to Al Jazira showcases his reputation in the football world and his ability to quickly rebound from recent setbacks in his managerial journey.
