Enppi rule out move for Mohamed Sherif

Enppi president, Ayman Al-Shari’i, has moved to shut down speculation linking the Egyptian side with a potential move for Al Ahly forward Mohamed Sherif.

Speaking on MBC Egypt 2, Al-Shari’i made it clear that while the striker is highly rated in Egyptian football, Enppi’s salary framework makes a transfer unrealistic.

“Impossible to sign Mohamed Sherif” said Enppi president. “Mohamed Sherif is a great and distinguished striker, but it is impossible to sign him for Enppi.”

He explained that Enppi’s current recruitment strategy does not allow the club to compete financially for players operating at the level of top Egyptian clubs such as Al Ahly SC.

According to him, even if interest existed in theory, the wage demands and squad structure at Enppi would make such a deal difficult to sustain without disrupting the dressing room balance.

Al-Shari’i further clarified that Enppi’s approach to transfers is built around sustainability and investment in developing talent rather than high-cost signings.

He noted that bringing in players from Al Ahly’s wage bracket would create imbalance within the squad and affect internal harmony.

“The team’s dressing room will not be able to handle the budgets and salaries of Al Ahly players,” he added.

The Enppi president also addressed rumours surrounding possible interest in three of his club’s players — Aqtai Abdullah, Hamed Abdullah, and Ali Mahmoud — who had been linked with a move to Al Ahly in recent reports.

He dismissed the speculation outright, stating that no official approach had been made from the Cairo giants.

“He concluded: ‘We are open to negotiations with any club that wishes to sign them, as our goal is always to invest,’” Al-Shari’i said, reinforcing Enppi’s position as a selling club that prioritises long-term development and financial planning.

The comments effectively put to rest rumours of a potential deal involving Mohamed Sherif and underline the reality of the Egyptian transfer market, where only a handful of clubs can compete for top-tier salaries.

For now, Enppi’s focus remains on maintaining stability while continuing to develop and export talent, rather than engaging in high-cost domestic transfers involving established stars from rivals like Al Ahly.
