Egyptian Football Association dismisses reports of expanded World Cup delegation
The Egyptian Football Association has moved quickly to shut down speculation surrounding the composition of the national team’s delegation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States.
In an official statement released on Friday, the federation denied reports claiming that 15 additional administrators and individuals would accompany the Pharaohs outside the officially approved delegation.
The controversy had gained attention across social media platforms in recent hours, with concerns raised over the possibility of unnecessary additions to the travelling party ahead of the tournament.
However, the Egyptian Football Association firmly rejected the reports, insisting that the claims “have no basis in reality” and stressing that the board remains committed to limiting representation strictly to official members within the national team delegation.
The federation also confirmed that vice president Khaled El-Darandaly will serve as head of the Egyptian delegation during the World Cup in the United States.
Officials emphasised that no extra individuals will be permitted to travel with the team outside the approved framework, underlining the federation’s intention to maintain discipline and avoid unnecessary expenses during the tournament.
The statement arrives as Egypt finalises preparations for their trip to America, with many supporters calling for greater financial discipline and full concentration on the team’s technical and competitive objectives at the World Cup.
The Pharaohs will be hoping to make a strong impression on the global stage as anticipation continues to build ahead of the tournament.
