Egypt Under-17s have held their first training session in Qatar as they prepare to compete in the Gulf Cup for U17s.

The tournament will take place in Doha from 17 October to 5 November, with 10 national teams competing for the title.

Egypt’s squad, led by head coach Hussein Abdel-Latif, arrived in the Qatari capital on Wednesday before beginning preparations for their opening fixture.

Walid Darwish, a member of the Egyptian Football Association board, also met the players and called on them to produce their best performances during the competition.

Egypt will start their campaign against Saudi Arabia on Saturday, 17 October. The match will be played at Hamad Al-Kabir Stadium.

The team are using the tournament as part of their preparations for next month’s FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Qatar.

Egypt secured qualification for the World Cup after finishing third at the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Gulf Cup for U17s will feature 10 teams, with the top two sides in each group progressing to the semi-finals.

Egypt have been drawn in Group B alongside Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Yemen and Iraq.

Saudi Arabia are the holders of the Gulf Cup for U17s.
