Egypt will face Malawi twice during the November international break in the third and fourth rounds of qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The next international window will run from 9 November until 17 November, with the two fixtures scheduled to take place during that period. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has not yet announced the dates of either match.
Egypt will host the first game against Malawi at Cairo Stadium, before travelling to Malawi for the return fixture.
The announcement follows Egypt’s 1-0 friendly defeat by South Africa in their final match of the current international break.
Egypt began their qualifying campaign with a goalless draw against Angola in Cairo before recording a 5-0 victory away to South Sudan in the second round.
They currently lead the group with four points from two matches. Malawi are second with three points from one game, while Angola are third on one point from one match. South Sudan are bottom without a point.
The two November fixtures will therefore bring Egypt and Malawi together in successive rounds of the qualifying campaign, although the precise schedule remains undetermined.
South Africa’s victory was their eighth against Egypt in the overall history of the fixture, according to the source article. Egypt have won five of the 13 meetings, while one match has ended in a draw.
It was also South Africa’s third victory over Egypt in Cairo.
The result marked Hossam Hassan’s first defeat as Egypt manager at Cairo Stadium. It was his sixth loss as Egypt manager, with the other defeats coming against Croatia, Uzbekistan, Senegal, Brazil and Argentina.
Hassan’s record as Egypt manager also includes 12 draws and 20 victories.
South Africa were managed by Pitso Mosimane, who has now faced Egypt four times. His record in those matches is two wins, one defeat and one draw.
