Eberechi Eze backs Arsenal to make history

Eberechi Eze has dismissed criticism surrounding Arsenal’s style of play, stressing that winning matches is what matters most.

The midfielder believes the team should concentrate on achieving success rather than paying attention to opinions from outside the club as the Gunners continue their pursuit of Champions League glory in Budapest.

Speaking at his Eze Foundation Invitational in south London, with the Premier League trophy on display, Eze was relaxed about the debate over Arsenal’s approach.

“You go through ups and downs and loads of noise in the media,” he said. “But at the end, all that matters is who won. It doesn’t matter how you won, it doesn’t matter what you did to win. Style of play is very subjective, ultimately, when you are winning games, that’s all that matters.”

He framed Saturday’s final against holders PSG as a huge opportunity rather than a burden. “We are just another group of people that have the opportunity to win the Champions League, and I pray that we take it,” he declared.

The occasion is deeply personal for Eze, who was released by Arsenal as a youngster before returning in a £60m move and winning the Premier League title. A 2015 post on X proclaiming “I swear imma make it…” has resurfaced as a symbol of his journey, with Eze now coming off a 53-game season for Arsenal in which he registered 10 goals and 6 assists.
