Borussia Dortmund have come under pressure to act quickly to permanently sign Austrian-born midfielder of Nigerian descent Carney Chukwuemeka.
The Yellow and Black outfit signed the youngster on loan in January for the rest of the season from English Premier League side Chelsea.
Although the midfielder suffered injury setbacks when he arrived, he managed to impress Dortmund officials whenever he had the chance to play.
With Dortmund manager Niko Kovac satisfied with the performance of the player, he wants the club to sign him permanently.
It is understood that Dortmund have planned talks with Chelsea about the possibility of extending the loan deal for one year.
In addition, the club is considering triggering the purchase option in the current loan deal of Carney Chukwuemeka.
Checks have revealed that if Dortmund wants to trigger the purchase option of 35 million euros, then there is not a lot of time.
That option in the midfielder’s contract will expire on June 14.
This means that Dortmund have a month and 14 days to act, after which Chelsea will recall Carney Chukwuemeka.
If that happens, any move to sign the midfielder permanently could cost more than the 30 million euros.
