Danny Namaso ends goal drought in Auxerre victory
AJ Auxerre secured a 3-0 victory over Stade Brestois 29, with Danny Namaso ending a five-month goal drought in the process.
The Cameroonian winger played a decisive role in the Ligue 1 encounter, scoring Auxerre’s third goal to cap an assured performance from the home side.
His strike marked a long-awaited return to form after an extended period without finding the net.
Namaso had not scored since October 19, 2025, when Auxerre drew 2-2 with Stade Rennais FC. Since then, he had gone 16 league matches without a goal, a stretch that had tested both his confidence and consistency.
Against Brest, however, he delivered at a key moment. His goal came from a curling effort that left the goalkeeper with little chance, sealing the result and highlighting his attacking quality.
The finish not only confirmed the victory but also underlined his persistence during a challenging spell.
Auxerre’s performance was notable for more than just the scoreline. Reduced to ten men during the match, they maintained control and composure, continuing to dictate play despite the numerical disadvantage.
Rather than retreat, the hosts pressed forward and extended their lead, demonstrating resilience under pressure.

The winger has now scored three goals in 23 Ligue 1 appearances this season.
