The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has launched an investigation into a serious disciplinary matter in Amateur Ligue 2, summoning several members of USM Annaba over allegations linked to the conduct of a recent championship fixture, according to official correspondence dated 13 May 2026.

The case, which has sparked widespread discussion on social media, centres on what the federation describes as “facts related to the smooth running of the championship”.

The FAF integrity officer has formally called a number of players and technical staff members to appear before a judicial officer mandated at the federation’s headquarters.

The summons covers several individuals within the USM Annaba setup, including head coach Mohamed Benchouia, assistant coach Reda Dalalou, and multiple players.

According to the document, hearings are scheduled to take place between 14 and 19 May, with attendance described as compulsory.

The federation has warned that any unjustified absence from the proceedings could result in precautionary disciplinary action, including temporary suspension from all football-related activities.

The tone of the correspondence indicates that the authorities intend to treat the matter with a high level of seriousness.

The FAF also references several provisions from its disciplinary regulations as well as the FIFA disciplinary code, suggesting that the scope of the investigation may extend beyond internal administrative procedures and could carry broader sporting consequences.

The hearings follow a formal complaint reportedly filed by the president of USM Annaba with the Public Prosecutor.

The complaint concerns allegations that several players refused to take part in a final match against MO Béjaïa, a fixture that held significant importance for Béjaïa’s hopes of reaching the promotion play-offs.

The alleged refusal has become the central point of the dispute, with the federation now seeking to establish the facts surrounding the incident and determine whether disciplinary breaches occurred.

The situation has unfolded amid growing tension, speculation and competing claims from those involved.

According to current regulations, sanctions remain a possibility if the allegations are proven.

These could include expulsion from competition for those found to have breached disciplinary rules, underlining the potential severity of the case for all parties concerned.

The investigation also carries a wider implication for the integrity of the competition, with the federation under pressure to demonstrate consistency in its handling of disciplinary matters at all levels of the domestic game.

While the FAF continues its internal process, the matter has also been brought to the attention of the judicial authorities, raising the possibility that legal proceedings could run alongside sporting sanctions.

This dual track could influence how quickly a resolution is reached.

At this stage, no final conclusions have been announced, and the federation’s inquiry remains ongoing.

However, with multiple individuals summoned and potential penalties on the table, the case has become one of the most closely watched disciplinary matters in the division this season.

As the hearings approach, attention is expected to remain firmly fixed on both the outcome of the FAF investigation and any further legal developments arising from the complaint.
