Coton Sport FC coach, Daniel Bréard, has voiced his deep disappointment over the sudden departure of Emmanuel Mahop, who recently moved to the Omani championship mid-season. The coach, visibly upset, revealed that Mahop had been an integral part of his plans for the remainder of the season.
Emmanuel Mahop’s stint with Coton Sport FC began after an unsuccessful attempt to secure a signing in Saudi Arabia.
Initially facing challenges in gaining the coach’s trust, the Cameroonian striker gradually carved a place for himself in Daniel Bréard’s team after spending several games on the bench.
However, his departure for Oman has left the coach dismayed, particularly due to the manner in which the transition occurred.
Expressing his discontent, Daniel Bréard remarked, “Emmanuel Mahop left Coton Sport without informing anyone at the club. He suddenly cut off the communication.
The sports director tried to contact him in vain. I was shocked when I learned about the transfer to Oman.
We helped him at Coton Sport. Certain details of his contract at Coton Sport were not clear, and he took advantage of it.”
Bréard continued to express his disappointment, stating, “Mahop is a good person. It’s a shame he left like that.
He was already on 4 goals, and I put him in my plans for the season. The players of Coton Sport de Garoua have a professional status like the players of the best championships in the world.
Transfers must be carried out correctly.”
The abrupt departure of Emmanuel Mahop has sparked controversy within Coton Sport, with Bréard emphasizing the need for transparency and proper communication in player transfers, underscoring the professional status of the club’s players.
The incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by football clubs when managing player transitions mid-season.
