Comoros v Senegal: draw backed at 5.76 for Marseille friendly

Comoros and Senegal will meet for the first time at senior international level when they face each other in a friendly at Marseille’s Stade Velodrome on Sunday, 4 October 2026.

The match, scheduled for 13:00 GMT, forms part of an extended FIFA international window running from late September into early October. Both teams have already played the opening two rounds of qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nasser Eddy, a consultant for NCI Sport and presenter of the UEFA Champions League on Radio Nostalgie, believes a closely fought contest could end in a draw, priced at 5.76 by 1xBet.

Comoros showing attacking intent

Comoros began their qualifying campaign with a 3-1 defeat by Cameroon in Garoua before responding with a 1-0 home victory over Namibia in Moroni.

The Coelacanths have scored in each of their past four matches in all competitions, including two friendlies in June. Bendjaloud Youssouf and Zaydou Youssouf have both contributed one goal and one assist across their past three games.

Hubert Velud’s side have also averaged more than five corners per match across their past two official fixtures. The number one has appeared in the scoreline of each of their past five matches, underlining a pattern that could make this an open encounter.

Vieira begins new Senegal cycle

Senegal, winners of the most recent Africa Cup of Nations, are entering a new era under Patrick Vieira following the retirement of key figures including Sadio Mane and Kalidou Koulibaly.

Their start to qualifying was less convincing than expected. They drew 1-1 away to Mozambique before recording a narrow but valuable 1-0 win in Ethiopia four days later.

The Lions of Teranga retain considerable international quality, although Vieira may need time to establish his preferred systems and tactical approach. Senegal have scored at least once in each of their past six matches in all competitions and have taken the lead in their past four official games.

They have averaged six corners per match in the opening stages of the qualifiers. Vieira is expected to rotate his squad in Marseille, allowing more players to gain minutes, testing tactical options and protecting senior players ahead of a long season.

Bendjaloud Youssouf the player to watch

Bendjaloud Youssouf, 32, has been one of Comoros’ most influential players. The FC Sochaux right-back provided the assist against Cameroon before scoring the decisive goal against Namibia.

His experience, stamina and attacking runs from defence could again prove important against Senegal.

The two teams’ recent attacking records have led to odds of 2.60 for both sides to score. A 1-1 draw is priced at 10, while a total of more than 10 corners is also considered possible.

A goal for Youssouf is another prediction following his recent performances. Comoros v Senegal will be broadcast on RTS. Odds are subject to change.
