Chippa United assistant coach Nkosohlanga Dikeni resigns after Milford draw

Nkosohlanga Dikeni has resigned as assistant coach of Chippa United following the club’s goalless draw with Milford FC, leaving head coach Brandon Truter searching for a replacement before their next Betway Premiership fixture.

Dikeni submitted his resignation to the club after the stalemate, according to information obtained by iDiski Times.

The coach has been involved with Chippa United for several years and has held a number of positions during his time at the Eastern Cape club. He has worked with the reserve side, served as caretaker coach and later taken up the role of assistant coach.

Dikeni is understood to believe he has reached the limit of what he can achieve at Chippa United and has therefore decided to move on.

His departure comes at a difficult stage of the season for the club. Chippa United have yet to win a match after five games in the Betway Premiership. Their record currently stands at four draws and one defeat, a run that will not satisfy club chairman Siviwe Chippa Mpengesi.

Truter must now identify a new member of his coaching staff before Chippa United face African champions Mamelodi Sundowns in an important league encounter.

The fixture is also facing a venue change. Chippa United have confirmed that Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium was deemed unsuitable to host the match because of concerns about the condition of the pitch.

The club has formally applied to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) to move the game to Buffalo City Stadium in Kugompo. Chippa United are awaiting approval for the proposed relocation.

Dikeni’s resignation follows the draw against Milford FC, which extended Chippa United’s winless start to the campaign. The club will now have to manage both the coaching change and uncertainty over the venue while preparing for a demanding meeting with Mamelodi Sundowns.

The defeat-free sequence has produced four points from five matches through the four draws, but the absence of a victory places further pressure on Truter and the wider club set-up. Chippa United will hope a change in results can quickly follow the changes behind the scenes.
