Chelsea have reportedly opened discussions with Eintracht Frankfurt over a potential move for striker Hugo Ekitike, as they step up efforts to strengthen their forward options ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The 22-year-old French forward has emerged as a leading candidate to lead the line under new head coach Enzo Maresca.
Of Cameroonian descent, Ekitike is being viewed by Chelsea as a marquee option for the number nine role after a standout campaign in Germany.
The former Paris Saint-Germain man has tallied 22 goals and contributed 12 assists across 48 appearances in all competitions this season, sparking interest from several top European clubs.
According to a report by RMC Sport, Chelsea have moved into advanced stages of talks for the forward, who is currently valued at around €100 million.
The West London side are eager to finalise a deal early, particularly if they manage to secure Champions League qualification with a positive result against Nottingham Forest this weekend.
While other options such as Benjamin Sesko, Victor Gyokeres, and Liam Delap have been considered, Ekitike’s profile and recent form appear to have elevated him to the top of the shortlist.
Arsenal and Liverpool are also believed to be monitoring his situation, though neither club has entered formal negotiations at this stage.
