Chelsea have been handed a significant advantage in their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface, with the German club reportedly willing to reduce their asking price.
After missing out on signing Victor Osimhen last summer, Chelsea remain in the market for a new striker, and Boniface has emerged as a key target.
The Nigerian forward has been linked with a big-money move to Stamford Bridge, but according to SPORT BILD, his transfer fee may now be lower than initially expected.
Leverkusen were previously demanding around €70m (£58.8m) for Boniface, with Saudi club Al Nassr showing strong interest in January before opting to sign Jhon Duran instead. However, reports now suggest the Bundesliga leaders are open to offers of around €50m (£42m).
A major factor behind this price drop is said to be concerns over Boniface’s attitude. The 24-year-old has faced criticism for several off-field incidents this season, including a car accident and a controversial video allegedly showing him using his phone while driving. His on-field behavior has also raised eyebrows, particularly after he was seen pushing teammate Emiliano Buendia during a recent win over Frankfurt.
Since suffering an injury in November, Boniface has lost his place as a regular starter for Leverkusen, making a summer departure increasingly likely with Chelsea now the likely destination.
Boniface has so far scored 9 times for Leverkusen in the ongoing season.
