Cedric Kaze appointed Kagera Sugar head coach

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Sekhukhune United coach Cedric Kaze has been named head coach of Tanzanian Premier League side Kagera Sugar.

Kaze was unveiled by the club on Monday, with Kagera Sugar currently 15th in the league table after collecting two points from their opening six games.

The appointment comes after a brief spell in charge of Sekhukhune United. Kaze was dismissed after six matches, during which his side recorded two wins and four defeats. He also faced Orlando Pirates three times during that period.

Kaze previously worked as co-coach of Kaizer Chiefs alongside Khalil Ben Youssef last season. The pair guided the club to third place, securing qualification for the CAF Confederations Cup.

That finish was Chiefs’ first inside the top eight in three years. Despite the improvement, the club chose to part ways with both coaches and appointed Fernando Da Cruz as their new head coach.

Kaze now takes charge of a Kagera Sugar side seeking to move away from the lower reaches of the Tanzanian Premier League.
