Carling Knockout quarter-final draw: Kaizer Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns learn opponents
The Carling Knockout quarter-final line-up has been confirmed, with defending champions Orlando Pirates drawn against Sekhukhune United and Kaizer Chiefs set to host Siwelele FC.
The draw took place at Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday evening, shortly after Stellenbosch FC became the final side to reach the last eight with a 2-0 victory over Durban City.
AmaZulu, Golden Arrows, Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, Sekhukhune United and Siwelele FC had already secured their places in the quarter-finals.
Because the draw was seeded, teams that finished inside the top eight last season could not be drawn against one another. That rule nevertheless produced a repeat of last season’s fixture, with Orlando Pirates paired with Sekhukhune United once again.
Kaizer Chiefs will welcome Siwelele FC, while Mamelodi Sundowns will face Golden Arrows in a repeat of their MTN8 meeting.
Stellenbosch FC, who completed the quarter-final line-up on Wednesday, will have home advantage against an in-form AmaZulu side managed by Arthur Zwane.
The Carling Knockout quarter-final ties are:
– Stellenbosch FC v AmaZulu – Orlando Pirates v Sekhukhune United – Kaizer Chiefs v Siwelele FC – Mamelodi Sundowns v Golden Arrows
The quarter-finals are scheduled to take place on 7-8 November, although the exact dates for each fixture have not yet been confirmed.
