Cancelling relegation again would be a disaster for Egyptian football – ENPPI SC chairman Ayman El-Sherei

Ayman El-Sherei, Chairman of ENPPI SC, did not mince words when discussing the chaos surrounding the Egyptian Premier League.

El-Sherei firmly stated that the Professional Clubs Association will not cancel relegation this season, despite poor results from some of the league’s historic teams. “Circumstances led to this unusual league format of 21 teams, and everyone agreed,” he said, acknowledging future problems but insisting, “Cancelling relegation would be a disaster, as it would push the number of clubs to 24, which is simply unmanageable.”

El-Sherei expressed satisfaction with ENPPI SC’s youthful squad and their strong showing in the league, but voiced frustration that national youth teams have not benefited from ENPPI’s successful academy. “My goal since becoming chairman in 2021 has been to restore ENPPI SC’s true identity, and we have developed many youth talents who’ve reached the first team.” He continued, “No club in Egypt, not even Al Ahly or Zamalek, lacks an ENPPI SC player or two.”

Ismaily’s struggles are clear: they sit bottom of the table with only 4 points from 10 games, having scored a mere 2 goals while conceding 13, issues compounded by financial and administrative instability, and public anger directed at their chairman.

Internal resignations and court challenges add to the uncertainty, leaving Ismaily’s future cloudy as they fight to avoid a second consecutive relegation.
