The Cameroon women’s football team departed from Douala on Thursday for Addis Ababa, where they will engage in a friendly match against the Ethiopian national team on Sunday.
This friendly encounter is part of their preparations for the final qualifying match for the 2014 African Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Namibia from October 11 to 25.
Head coach Enow Ngachu traveled with a squad of 18 players, including 9 former players who participated in the London Olympic Games. According to Ngachu, this match was requested by Ethiopia, and they will cover all costs except for the transportation of the Cameroonian delegation. Ngachu sees this match as an opportunity to assess the level of his players, especially those participating in their first friendly match. He noted that the Ethiopian team plays a good possession game with a high tempo.
Cameroon’s final qualifier will be against Senegal on May 24 for the first leg, with the return match scheduled a week later.
