In a poignant announcement that marks the end of an era, Cameroonian footballer Paul-Georges Ntep has officially hung up his boots at age 32.
The former winger, who burst onto the scene at AJ Auxerre in 2010, revealed his retirement through an emotional interview with France Bleu, stating “My career, for me, it’s over. I have moved on in my head and I have other projects. Today, football is just good memories, but it’s over.”
Born in Douala, Ntep’s journey through professional football saw its brightest moments at Stade Rennais, where he became a fan favorite. His career, though punctuated with flashes of brilliance, took him across Europe and Asia, including stints at Wolfsburg, Saint-Étienne, and ultimately concluding at Hô Chi Minh City FC in Vietnam.
Despite experiencing some regrets about missed opportunities in cup competitions, Ntep’s legacy is marked by his selfless playing style and creative flair on the pitch.
As he transitions into entrepreneurship in the Rennes region, he leaves behind a career that, while perhaps not reaching its full potential, showcased the talent of a player who proudly represented both Cameroon and France.
