Cameroonian international Christopher Wooh is on the verge of completing a transfer to Turkish side Trabzonspor, following a breakthrough in negotiations with Stade Rennais.
Both clubs have reached an agreement over the deal, which will see the central defender leave Ligue 1 for the Süper Lig in a move valued at €5 million, including performance-related bonuses.
The fee will reportedly be paid in three instalments.
Trabzonspor had been monitoring the 22-year-old for some time and have now taken decisive steps to secure his services as they reinforce their defensive line ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The club’s interest had intensified in recent weeks, and the latest development signals the beginning of a new chapter for the Cameroon international.
Wooh, born in Louvres, France, has had a steady rise through the ranks of French football.
After stints with Nancy and Lens, he joined Stade Rennais in 2022, where he featured in 20 Ligue 1 matches this past season, amassing 1,457 minutes of playing time.
While his performances have largely flown under the radar in France, his robust defensive style and positional awareness have attracted attention abroad.
His current contract with Rennes is due to expire in June 2026, but the club has opted to cash in now, allowing Wooh to pursue regular first-team football in Turkey.
On Transfermarkt, the centre-back is currently valued at €6 million, underscoring the competitiveness of Trabzonspor’s €5 million offer.
Financially, the move could be a step up for the player.
At Rennes, Wooh earns an annual salary of €240,000 (approximately 156 million FCFA).
Details of his contract with Trabzonspor have not yet been disclosed, but a rise in salary is anticipated.
A regular feature in Cameroon’s national setup, Wooh has also been a part of major international tournaments, further bolstering his reputation.
His ability to read the game, coupled with his physicality, is expected to add depth and experience to the Trabzonspor backline.
With the deal nearing completion, all eyes now turn to the official announcement.
Should all go according to plan, Christopher Wooh will soon be plying his trade in the Turkish Süper Lig, aiming to make his mark in a new footballing environment.
