Cagliari turn to experienced Angola striker M’Bala Nzola in late transfer move

Cagliari completed the signing of M’Bala Nzola in the final moments of the transfer window, bringing the Angola international in from Fiorentina on a one-year contract with the option of a further season.

The Sardinian club confirmed the deal after making the 30-year-old forward their main target as they looked to strengthen their attacking options. Negotiations were accelerated and the agreement was finalised shortly after 18:30, allowing manager Fabio Pisacane to add an experienced striker to his squad.

Nzola arrives with considerable knowledge of Serie A, having made a particular impression during his time with Spezia. His career has also included a number of loan spells since his move to Fiorentina, with Lens, Pisa and Sassuolo among the clubs he has represented.

The Angola international spent one season at Fiorentina before continuing his career through temporary moves. During the 2025-26 season, he scored three goals for Pisa and added one more while playing for Sassuolo in Serie A.

His move to Cagliari represents another new opportunity for the forward, who was born in Buco-Zau. His current market value is estimated at 4 million euros.

Cagliari’s immediate schedule includes a Coppa Italia round-of-32 match against Hellas Verona. Ahead of that fixture, the published betting prices list Sassuolo as the winner at 1.86, with a draw priced at 3.20 and a Hellas Verona victory at 4.50.
