The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has yet to make a final decision regarding the fate of the match between Al Ahly and Medeama in the African Champions League.
Al Ahly has requested the postponement of their match against Medeama following an incident involving the team’s plane at Accra airport, which prevented the aircraft from traveling to Kumasi and consequently delayed the team’s arrival.
The match between Al Ahly and Medeama is scheduled to take place at 6 PM tomorrow, Friday, as part of the fifth round of the African Champions League.
FilGoal.com has learned that CAF has informed Al Ahly that they will seek Medeama’s opinion as the host team before making a final decision.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly has been in communication with Hani Abu Reda, a member of the CAF Executive Committee, to explain the circumstances surrounding the team’s mission in Ghana.
Al Ahly has requested a 24-hour postponement of the match due to the delayed arrival caused by circumstances beyond the mission’s control.
Al Ahly’s delegation moved to Accra airport this Thursday morning in preparation to complete the journey to Kumasi.
Al Ahly currently occupies the top spot in Group D with 6 points, one point ahead of second-placed CR Belouizdad, while Medeama sits in fourth and last place with 4 points.
Wessam Abu Ali has been included in Al Ahly’s squad for the first time after his absence from the match against CR Belouizdad due to injury.
However, Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim “Kahraba” has been excluded from the squad.
FilGoal.com has learned that Kahraba has been granted permission by the technical staff and Khaled Bebo, the football director, to miss the match to attend his sister’s wedding.
Marwan Attia will also miss the match due to accumulated yellow cards.
