The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the officiating officials for the much-anticipated CAF Champions League semi-finals.
South African outfit Mamelodi Sundowns will play host to Al Ahly in the first leg on April 19 before traveling for the return fixture on April 25, 202, while Orlando Pirates takes on Pyramids FC in second semifinals clash.
However, the continental football governing body has named the match officials both legs as the battle for the final takes centre stage.
Somalian referee Omar Artan will take charge of the first leg between South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and Egypt’s Al Ahly on Saturday, April 19, at 3 PM local time at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.
Artan will be assisted by Gilbert Cheruiyot and Stephen Onyango from Kenya, while Peter Kamamu will serve as fourth official. The VAR unit will be led by Pierre Ghislain Atcho of Gabon, with Ghana’s Daniel Laryea as assistant VAR.
The return leg set for Cairo International Stadium, will be officiated by Mauritanian referee Beida Dahane. His assistants will be Adou Hermann Desire Ngoh from Ivory Coast and Koffi Kossi from Togo. Samuel Uwikunda (Rwanda) will be the fourth official.
VAR duties in Cairo will be handled by Bamlak Tessema (Ethiopia), with Salima Mukansanga (Rwanda) as assistant VAR.
On the side, Orlando Pirates will host Pyramids FC at Soccer City in Johannesburg on Saturday, April 19 at 6 PM.
The referee will be Pacifique Ndabihawenimana from Burundi, assisted by officials from Senegal and Benin. VAR will be managed by Issa Sy and Gabriel Camara, both from Senegal.
