Bukayo Saka dazzles as Arsenal sweep Fulham aside to open six-point lead
Arsenal surged to the summit of the Premier League title race with a commanding 3-0 victory over Fulham, as Bukayo Saka delivered a decisive first-half performance that underlined his growing influence in north London.
Wearing the captain’s armband, Saka was at the heart of everything Arsenal produced going forward, combining creativity with clinical execution to dismantle Fulham before the break.
His direct running and sharp decision-making set the tone early, and it was his brilliance that unlocked the contest inside nine minutes. Twisting past Raúl Jiménez with ease, Saka drilled a low ball across goal for Viktor Gyökeres to convert and hand the hosts a deserved lead.
Arsenal maintained relentless pressure, with Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Magalhães both going close as Fulham struggled to contain the intensity. Former Gunner Bernd Leno was repeatedly called into action, denying Gyökeres and reacting sharply to a series of close-range efforts.
The second goal, however, arrived just before the interval and again bore Saka’s imprint. This time finishing the move himself, he latched onto Gyökeres’ pass and fired beyond Leno at the near post. Moments later, Gyökeres added a third, stretching to head home and cap a dominant opening 45 minutes.
With the result effectively secured, Mikel Arteta rotated his side after the interval, withdrawing key figures including Saka and Declan Rice with one eye on their upcoming UEFA Champions League semi-final against Atlético Madrid.
Fulham showed brief signs of resistance after the restart, but David Raya was largely untroubled in the Arsenal goal. There was a moment of concern when Emile Smith Rowe limped off to warm applause from the home crowd.
The victory extends Arsenal’s strong home record against Fulham and sends a clear message in the title race, moving them six points clear of Manchester City ahead of their next fixture.
