Brentford have no intention of parting ways with Bryan Mbeumo in the upcoming winter transfer window, despite the growing interest from several top European clubs. The Cameroonian forward, who has been a standout performer for the Bees, is drawing attention from some of the Premier League’s biggest names. However, Brentford’s resolve to keep Mbeumo in London remains firm.
According to Football Insider’s Mick Brown, the club has set a hefty £60 million price tag for the 24-year-old, a strategy designed to deter potential suitors.
While the transfer fee may seem steep for a player at a mid-table club, Brown suggests it reflects Brentford’s desire to retain their star player for the remainder of the season.
“I can’t imagine teams like Arsenal will be prepared to match the price they will ask,” Brown said. “From what I’ve heard, they value him at over £60m.
That’s not necessarily the amount they expect to get for him, but it’s a figure designed to make it very difficult for anyone to prise him away in January.”
Mbeumo’s performances on the pitch have been central to Brentford’s attacking play, making him one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League.
Since joining the club, he has consistently delivered in front of goal and has established himself as a key figure in Brentford’s squad.
His growing reputation has led to reports of interest from top-tier clubs across Europe, but the £60 million valuation places a significant barrier to any potential move.
Mbeumo, whose contract with Brentford runs until 2026, is currently valued at €40 million.
He earns an annual salary of €2.66 million (around 1.73 billion CFA), further underlining his importance to the team.
However, with Brentford set to hold firm on their valuation, it seems unlikely that Mbeumo will make a mid-season move, with the forward expected to remain in London until at least the end of the current campaign.
Brentford’s next challenge comes against Bournemouth in their 11th match of the Premier League season, where Mbeumo will once again be key to his side’s ambitions of maintaining their mid-table position.
