Felipe Dos Santos, a 28-year-old Brazilian striker, has officially obtained Beninese nationality, opening the door to a potential call-up for the Cheetahs.

The forward confirmed the news himself through an Instagram story, marking a significant step in his international career.

Dos Santos, who plays for Azerbaijani Premier League side Araz-Nakhchivan, is expected to strengthen Benin’s attacking options with his pace and flair.

His naturalization process was completed at the Embassy of Benin in Moscow, according to Scout Benin.

The player, born Felipe Silva Correa dos Santos, claims to be of Afro-descendant origin from Benin, a connection that inspired his decision to represent the West African country.

Known for his agility and skill on the right wing, Dos Santos began his football journey in Brazil before moving abroad to develop his career.

He has played for several clubs across Europe and Asia, including NK Maribor in Slovenia, where he competed in European tournaments.

He also featured in Azerbaijan with Shamakhi FK and Gabala FK, as well as in Israel with Hapoel Haifa.

At Araz-Nakhchivan, Dos Santos has become a key attacking figure, admired for his energy and creativity in the final third.

His addition to Benin’s national team setup could provide coach Gernot Rohr with greater depth in attack as the Cheetahs continue to rebuild their squad for upcoming competitions.

With his new citizenship, Dos Santos now stands ready to don the Benin colours and bring his international experience to the national stage.

His arrival symbolizes the growing appeal of Beninese football to talents with global backgrounds.
