Chippa United head coach Brandon Truter has responded to speculation over his position after his side suffered a 4-0 defeat by Golden Arrows in the Carling Knockout Cup round of 16 on Saturday.
The result ended a difficult day for Chippa United, who were slow to settle and conceded early in the match. Truter discussed his team’s start and explained his decision to rotate the squad after selecting largely the same group of players for the opening eight Betway Premiership matches.
Chippa United have recorded only one win in all competitions this campaign, increasing scrutiny on Truter and prompting questions about his future. The coach, known as Brakkies, addressed that uncertainty while preparing for another demanding fixture.
His next assignment is an away meeting with Stellenbosch FC in the Betway Premiership this weekend. Truter described the contest as a tough challenge and adopted a defiant tone before the coastal derby against “Stellies”, insisting that he never loses in the Mother City.
The coach also spoke about the role of faith during difficult periods, explaining how he regularly reconnects with it when circumstances become challenging.
Truter’s comments followed a heavy cup defeat that left Chippa United needing a response in the league. Their meeting with Stellenbosch FC will provide the next opportunity to recover from the setback and improve on a campaign that has so far produced just one victory.
