Borussia Dortmund agree season-long loan for Arsenal midfielder Ethan Nwaneri, says Fabrizio Romano

Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement with Arsenal to sign Ethan Nwaneri on a season-long loan, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Bundesliga club are working to complete the deal on the final day of the transfer window. Dortmund will cover the player’s salary in full during his temporary move to Germany.

The agreement would represent the second loan spell of Nwaneri’s career. The Arsenal player spent last season with French club Marseille, where he made 11 appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

Dortmund are bringing in Nwaneri to help replace new signing Giannis Konstantelias, who suffered a cruciate ligament injury during his first match for the club.

The injury has left Dortmund seeking an alternative in the squad, with Nwaneri now set to arrive on a deal lasting until the end of the season, subject to the transfer being completed.

Nwaneri’s previous experience of playing away from Arsenal came in Ligue 1 with Marseille. During that spell, he featured 11 times and contributed three goals in total, scoring twice and setting up another.

Dortmund have already begun their Bundesliga campaign with a positive result. They defeated Hamburger SV 2-0 in the opening round of the German league season.

The proposed move would see Nwaneri return to a different environment for another season while remaining an Arsenal player. Dortmund, meanwhile, are attempting to finalise the arrangement before the transfer window closes, with the club taking responsibility for the player’s full wages throughout the loan.

Romano’s report indicates that the key terms between the two clubs have been settled, leaving Dortmund to complete the remaining work on the final day of the window. The transfer is intended to provide cover after Konstantelias’s serious injury, which occurred in his first appearance for Dortmund.
